May 2023

Spring has sprung all over Valencia! The oranges are blossoming, the skies are bluing, and the beaches are warming up – it’s so nice to be comfortable without the heat or AC on so let’s all enjoy this month, and especially all that the IWCV has to offer!

Before we get to this month’s events, we do have a couple announcements:

First, our lovely webmaster Cindy Roberts is looking for someone who might be interested in helping out as Cindy’s backup for our website. If this sounds like something that might be a fit for you, please WhatsApp Cindy at +1 206 708 9526 to find out what’s involved and how you can help.

Second, for members who are running their own businesses, we are very happy to post your business card on the IWCV website so our members (and others) can learn about your work. The only requirements are that you be an IWCV member and have a business card that can be scanned. If that’s you, please WhatsApp Cindy (same number as above).

Third, some news from our Neighborhood Ambassador Program: Janine Forbes is currently assisting Joanne Simpson with the Neighborhood Ambassador Program. If you are an ambassador, still happy to be one and haven’t changed the area you are living in (postal code), your email or phone in the last few years, no action is required. If you no longer wish to be an ambassador, have changed area or details, please let Janine know at janine_forbes@hotmail.com. She will amend the records. Many thanks for your help!

Our Neighborhood Ambassadors are here to introduce members to the IWCV and/or Valencia. If you would like to participate in this program, either as an ambassador or have an ambassador assigned to you, please contact either Joanne Simpson joanneis1@hotmail.com or Janine Forbes janine_forbes@hotmail.com and let them know.

Celebrating our Diversity

We currently have 346 members. While there is no doubt that the largest percentage of our membership is American (40%), the other 60% are from 49 different countries. This makes us a truly international group. Where are we from? As self-identified, we are from:

It would be wonderful to celebrate this diversity by sharing various aspects of our homelands. Would you consider doing any of the following: give a brief presentation about your homeland, share crafts or art typical of your country, share food or recipes typical of your country or do a cooking class? If you might be interested in doing this, please contact iwcvalencia@gmail.com.
