Best & Easiest BBQ Baby Back Ribs

Jane Buck

A few years ago I felt like having Barbecued Baby Back Ribs for dinner. Before I moved to Spain I used to buy them pre-cooked in hermetically sealed packets that just needed to be reheated. I found the same thing in the grocery store in Valencia, bought them, brought them home – and imagine my surprise to discover they were raw! That little mistake led to the discovery of how to make the best, and surely the easiest, home made ribs.

Prep Time: About 5 minutes

Total Time: 4 Hours

Ingredients

  • 1 or 2 racks of pork ribs (depending on how many folks you’re feeding). Note: these do NOT have to be “baby back” ribs – any pork ribs will do, even the ones sealed in plastic from Consum or Mercadona

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Barbecue Sauce (any kind is fine; I like Heinz Classic)

  • An aluminum foil tray large enough to hold the ribs.

  • Aluminum Foil

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 135⁰ C.

  2. Sprinkle both sides of ribs with salt & pepper.

  3. Put ribs into foil tray meaty side up.

  4. Cover tray tightly with aluminum foil.

  5. Put in oven and cook for 3-3/4 hours.

  6. Remove from oven and remove foil covering.

  7. Turn on broiler.

  8. Brush meaty side of ribs liberally with barbecue sauce.

  9. Put ribs in foil tray under broiler for no more than 3 minutes.

  10. Remove from oven & serve – delicious, falling off the bone ribs, with virtually no work and no clean-up involved! Just throw away the foil tray when you’re done. Leftover meat can be used for ersatz pulled pork sandwiches.
