About The Event
Please join us on Tuesday, May 24 for a visit to Gandia, a lovely city located about 70km down the coast from Valencia. We will be taking the 10:41AM train from Valencia Nord. The train trip is about an hour.
After arriving in Gandia we will walk leisurely, along a lovely shopping street, to the Ducal Palace of the Borja (approximately 500 meters), the 14th century residence of the Royal Dukes of Gandia and, from 1485, the Borja Family. It was the birthplace of Saint Francis Borja. The tour begins at 1:00PM and takes about an hour.
We will then walk to Foc i Flames restaurant. They have a menu del dia with plenty of items to choose from. Then we will walk back to the station and plan to take the 17:25 return train to Valencia (see * below).
The cost of the trip is €21.50 (payable in cash on the day of the trip), which includes the ticket to Ducal Palace (with an English-speaking guide) and lunch. Please bring exact change. This price does not include your train tickets.
We will meet at the coffee shop on the left just inside the entrance to Valencia Nord, beginning at 9:30AM. Please purchase your round-trip train tickets before you meet the group and arrive with plenty of time for a 10:41 departure.
This trip is limited to 30 people (IWCV members plus their partners/spouses) and needs a minimum of 20 people in order to run. If there are not 20 participants by May 16, the trip will be cancelled or rescheduled.
Please Note: There will be about 2.5 km of walking to and from the various stops. This does not include walking around Ducal Palace of the Borja. The interior of the Palace does have an elevator for those who cannot use the stairs. However, those with mobility issues should be aware.
Cancellation Procedure: If you find that you must cancel, please email pres.iwcvalencia@gmail.com. If you cancel for any reason and we cannot replace you from a waitlist, you will be charged the full price (not including train fare). Thank you for understanding.
* We will plan to take the 17:25 return train. However, should you wish to stay in Gandia later, you can choose to take a different train. Trains run every half hour.
