Holiday Giving Newsletter - December 2023

The holiday season is a busy time for our Charities Team and thanks to you wonderful ladies we can bring joy to so many less fortunate people.

The charities team continues to focus on the needs of our three year-around charities, Proyecto Vivir, Casa Caridad & Casa Ronald, plus Amigos de la Calle this time of year.

Proyecto Vivir

In November we handed over €700 to PV. €600 from Myra Deuel's very successful Halloween

Party Fundraiser and a further €100 in donations.

Proyecto Vivir still require volunteers in their shop.We have already filled three slots this month and we have another two ladies waiting to confirm shifts.

It is €23 per share.

Closing date is November 30th. For details please check IWCV Facebook page.

Casa Ronald

The ladies of IWCV have ordered a total of 41 Casa Ronald Solidarity Christmas Baskets.

There is no confirmed delivery date as yet; please watch your emails for collection dates in December.

Valencia Marathon

This Sunday December 3rd, the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia 2023 Marathon takes place. Casa

Ronald, as the solidarity entity of this marathon, and a collaboration with New

Balance, give us the opportunity to purchase limited editions of stuffed animals with the

official t-shirt design of the marathon.

For only €12 each you can choose The Fastest Leopard, The Jumping Kangaroo or The Most Faithful Dog. Or purchase all three! The proceeds from the sale of these stuffed

animals continue to help Casa Ronald accommodate free of charge families with seriously ill

children when they move to Valencia for medical treatment.

The stuffed animals are available at Casa Ronald House, C/Illusion No 6, next to La Fe Hospital or on December 1st & 2nd at the Expo Deporte Valencia, Casa Ronald Stand, Hall 5, Feria Valencia. The fair is open 9am to 9pm both days.

How to get to Feria Valencia:

*Metro: Line 2; Lliria-Torrent Avinguda, Stop: Carolines/Fira, (approx 600m from the venue

*Tram Line 4, from the city to the main entrance of Feria ( only operates on days certain

GIFTS THAT ARE UNWRAPPED OR UNLABELED CAN NOT BE ACCEPTED, AS

THERE ARE NO RESOURCES TO CARRY OUT THESE TASKS

Please buy gifts for however many people you wish, be it one person or more, keeping

in mind that 95% of the homeless population is male. What is MOST IMPORTANT is

that each item is gift wrapped and labeled, in Spanish, with the contents and the size.

For example, if you buy socks, size medium or size 38-41, the label should read:

“Calcetines, mediana or 38-41”

When you buy socks or gloves or any items that are attached together with a plastic tie, can you please remove the plastic. The reason is to stop people from removing the ties with their teeth which can cause damage.

You can drop off the gifts in a plastic or paper bag, but it would be ideal if each person

could donate a fabric bag or two. These bags are available in various stores, such as

Tedi. Amigos de la Calle volunteers will use these bags to pack the gifts for the

homeless people.

Thank you, Missy, for taking on this project again this year!
