Please join us on Wednesday, April 1 for a visit to Gandia, a lovely town around 70 km down the coast from Valencia and about a 1 hour train ride from Valencia Nord. We will leave Valencia Nord at 10:11 and arrive in Gandia at 11:09. A fair amount of walking will be involved, so those with mobility issues should take note.Â
Upon arriving in Gandia, we will take a 20 minute flat walk to reach the Fallas Museum. Gandia’s Fallas Museum has many exhibits, an audio guide, touch screens, sound effects and educational displays. It’s a perfect time to learn more about the activities and traditions of Las Fallas.
Afterwards, we’ll have a 10 minute walk to the highly rated Avallier restaurant for lunch.Â
Included are:
Three shared starters: Ensalada, Coca de dacsa, Ensaladilla
Choice of Entree: Fideua or Arroz al Horno
One drink and dessert included
Price: 13 euros
After lunch, we will go to the Ducal Palace of the Borgias, the 14th century residence of the Royal Dukes of GandÃa, and from 1485, the Borgia family. It was the birthplace of Saint Francis Borgia.Â
Our final stop before our return to Valencia will be for a drink at the Plaza Mayor (a few steps from the train station).Â
The approximate costs for this trip are:
· Train 12.10 euros round trip (40% discount for Tarjeta Dorada)
· Fallas Museum - 3.50 or 3.00 euros reduced rate (includes audioguide)
· Lunch - 13.00 euros
· Ducal Palace of the Borgias - 5.00 euros + 2.00 for audio guideÂ
· Cost of drink at Plaza Mayor
NOTE: There will be about 45 minutes of walking to and from the various stops. This does not include walking around the Fallas Museum and Ducal Palace of the Borgias. The interior of the Palace does have an elevator for those who cannot use the stairs.
Return trains to Valencia run every 30 minutes (there is one at 17:25 and 17:55).Â
