About The Event
Do you have lower back pain? Knee pain? Sciatica? Ever wonder if there was a surefire way to alleviate it all in a way that doesn’t hurt and mostly involves laying down? Do you want to get stronger & better as the years pass?
Pilates is a method of organizing the way we move our bodies through the center, calming overworked areas of our bodies (while completely avoiding any injuries) while strengthening alternative, underutilized and untapped areas. It is both fun and serious! Pilates uses the mind and the imagination to unlock the body connections we need to make. It’s an adjustable practice that’s accessible to all, works in concert with the activities we love and want to continue to do pain-free for life. It doesn’t fatigue the body, there’s no pressure on joints, and you’re in and out of the studio in less than an hour.
In this class, Leyna will introduce us to the basics of Pilates and will answer any questions you may have.
Dress comfortably and bring a pair of socks with you! Please also bring a Pilates or Yoga mat if you have one.
INSTRUCTOR: Before moving to Valencia from New York, Leyna Noel completed a rigorous, old-style two-year apprenticeship under Pilates Grandmaster Instructor Trainer Sari Mejia Santo, the most acclaimed instructor of true Pilates, who learned from Joseph Pilates himself. Leyna had her own Pilates studio, Flesh + Bone, in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn from 2007-2018. She also certified in Kundalini Yoga & Meditation and completed intensive studies in dance at the Butoh Institute of New York. When she discovered Pilates, Leyna found it to be as moving and life-changing to her as her first love (music). She has made it her life’s mission to guide people to their optimum health through Pilates. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and conducts classes in both languages.
