About The Event
After a wonderful tour of El Patriarca this month, our excellent English-speaking guide David from Ars Magna is back. This time, David will take us on a visit to San Nicolás, where we will see the splendor of the Valencian Baroque including the frescoes by Dionis Vidal, Palomino’s excellent disciple. Built next to the old Roman Decumanus Maximus, San Nicolás is one of the 12 parishes the Christian city was divided into in times of James I. The church, with its spartan Mediterranean Gothic structure and its Baroque layer, features magnificent frescoes attributed to Dionís Vidal that revolve around the life of San Pedro Mártir and San Nicolás. We will see majestic scenes that deal with the life of both saints and be surprised by works of great Renaissance painters such as Juan de Juanes or Rodrigo de Osona.
