Welcome Back, Everyone! After a very warm summer, your IWCV is ready for autumn – in fact, we can’t wait for the weather to cool down a bit, which hopefully will happen soon. Enjoy these last few weeks of heat and humidity and get ready for all that we have in store for you!
MEMBERSHIP EVENTS FOR SEPTEMBER
First Tuesday Coffee – Tuesday 6 September, 10:30am at MuviMent, on the terraza behind the MUVIM Museum. The coffee morning is open to all women in Valencia, both members and those who have not officially joined us yet. There is no need to register in advance - just stop by and join us!
September Luncheon, for IWCV Members – Thursday 22 September. In keeping with IWCV tradition, this luncheon will be at the beach, and this time we’re trying a new restaurant with delicious food! For details and to register, click on September Luncheon at the Beach | IWC - Valencia
OWL – Wednesday 28 September. The IWCV’s “OWL” Happy Hour will take place at 6 PM (or maybe 6:30? Keep an eye on our website for confirmation of the time) at Babilonia, just off St. Vincent Martyr next door to Hundred. Your spouse / partner / guests are welcome to join you. There is no need to register for OWL, but if you know that you will be there please email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how many of you will be coming so that we can let the folks at Babilonia know about how many we will be.
While locals may be trying to escape the heat of Valencia in the summer, it didn't stop members from joining in July and August. We had 14 new members over those two months, bringing our total membership up to 234!

CHARITIES AND FUNDRAISING
Welcome aboard to Maria Alejandro Gonzalez who will be our new IWCV liaison with Proyecto Vivir. Thank you for your willingness to help out, Maria!
If any of you are interested in helping with Proyecto Vivir or the other charities supported by the IWCV (Casa Caridad, Casa Ronald McDonald Valencia), whether as a volunteer or on the fundraising/charitable events side, please contact our Charities Chairperson Pauline Fitzgerald at email@example.com.
And, keep your eyes on our website for details of upcoming fundraising events and our Christmas projects with Amigos de la Calle. There will be a lot happening in the next few months such as a wine evening and holiday events.
We have spent this August testing a new activity for our members and it’s a go! You can get more details at our September First Tuesday Coffee Morning, but in a nutshell, we will be starting a fun, social, great way to meet people and learn something: Board Games! So far we have tested Rummikub, Mexican Train Dominoes, and 3/13, and we are sure that other games will be just as successful! The idea will be to have people host at their home (the host will determine how many people will work given available space) and to teach the games to those members who aren’t familiar with them. Gamers will bring snacks and/or drinks. We are planning to have game days twice a month. Many thanks to Ann Linton who has volunteered to coordinate this new activity!
Women Who Walk continues to be a popular event even in the hottest weather when the ladies changed things up a bit and met at a coffee shop to talk about walking! As of last week the Women Who Walk were back to walking in the Turia as normally scheduled. Get your walking shoes out and join us on Fridays, from 11am (with coffee afterwards). If you’d like to walk, please send an email with your name and telephone number to firstname.lastname@example.org and she will add you to the Women Who Walk WhatsApp group so that you can keep informed of where and when the group will meet. PS: Spouses, partners, out-of-town guests are welcome to walk too!
As we gear up for a fun autumn we need your suggestions for events, whether it be a tour of a specific neighborhood (Rusafa? Nazaret? Eixample?), a trip to the CaixaForum, or maybe just some retail therapy – we are happy to entertain any ideas you have! Please send your ideas to Phyllis So, VP Activities, at email@example.com.
Below are some suggestions we have heard over the last couple of months. If you agree with these suggestions, and especially if you’d like to try coordinating one of them (on your own or with a friend!) please let Phyllis know.
2) Make hand cream
3) Wine/empañadas party
5) CaixaForum tour
6) Admirals Baths book talk with author Dayna Gynther
