It’s a new year – and hopefully, hopefully, we will be able to get back to “normal” – whatever that may turn out to be. We are still limiting IWCV activities to outdoors and virtual, but as the weather warms up we’re sure to find new ways for us all to get together. In the meantime, may we all have a happy, healthy new year!
Congratulations and thank you to our newest IWCV Board Member Lauren Baker, who has very generously agreed to undertake the role of Recording Secretary. Welcome aboard the Board, Lauren – and we will try not to confuse you too much!!
Our membership list continues to grow, and it sure would be great to be able to meet our new members in person – but although that can’t happen for now, we can meet you virtually! So, if you are a new member – or if you’ve been with us for a while and would like to say hello to some of our new members – please join join us on Wednesday, 13 January at 10:00 AM for our first Virtual New Member Coffee of 2021! Just click on this Zoom link from your computer, tablet, iPad, or phone and be sure to bring your own coffee!

Neighborhood Ambassadors are an extremely important part of IWCV. These lovely ladies have volunteered to meet and greet new members in their own neighborhoods, introduce them to life in Valencia, and be there to answer any questions or just lend an ear as needed. But, we are short on Ambassadors these days – so if you would like to help out and get to know our new members at the same time, please consider volunteering for this worthwhile and fun program! For more information or to volunteer, please contact Joanne Simpson, our Neighborhood Ambassador Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have moved since you joined the IWC-Valencia, could you please inform us of any change in postal code. Please send the information to email@example.com Thank you!!
Congratulations to Karen Magee-Koski, Carmen Rieff, Roshanna Evans, and their teams for the wonderful work they did in the lead up to the festive season when so many were in need.
Thank you, thank you, to Missy Anobile who came up with and coordinated the wonderful Christmas Street Care Gift Bag program. The many homeless people we were able to help out were truly thankful – and very appreciative – of the gifts they received.
From everyone at the IWCV, a huge thank you to all our members for your continuous generosity and support. It is greatly appreciated by our charity teams and by the charities we are able to support because of you.
Proyecto Vivir is still looking for used cellphones and laptops. If you can donate, please contact Roshanna at firstname.lastname@example.org. Proyecto Vivir are so grateful for all the support and donations they receive from the IWCV!
Proyecto Vivir are also looking for volunteers. If anyone is interested and can spare some time to support PV, please call Cristina on +34 687 534 099 to set up a meeting, and please use Roshanna Evans’ name or IWCV as reference.
First Tuesday Coffee, Tuesday, 5 January, at MuviMent, on the Terrace behind Muvim Museum – 10am to Noon. For all female members and guests.
February Luncheon: No luncheon in January, but mark your calendars for our February luncheon on Thursday, 18 February. Details will be posted in next month’s Newsletter and on the IWCV website.
As we move on from 2020 we are slowly adding new activities. Last month we started Women Who Walk and we are getting walkers from slow to fast and in between. The reviews are wonderful: “We love getting out and walking the Turia”, “The weather has been fantastic!” “We can walk at our own pace and not feel intimidated” “We get to meet people I’ve never met before!” Join us on Fridays at 11 a.m. by the fountain in front of the Palau de la Musica. We’ll walk for an hour and then have coffee and conversation. It’s a great way to see and meet new friends. Please contact either of our Women Who Walk Co-Coordinators Belinda James (email@example.com) and Ida Mauritzen (firstname.lastname@example.org) to join the group. (There is no need to register in advance to walk with us, but if they have your details they will let you know of any schedule changes.)
Our other activities include Mahjong Mondays and Knit & Knatter on the last Thursday of the month. These continue to be the favorites. Talk to Jane Buck (email@example.com) for Mahjong and Karen Feredey (firstname.lastname@example.org) for Knit & Knatter.
As soon as we can we will set up walking tours. Unfortunately, our tour guide hurt her knee and cannot walk with us for the time being. We wish Marisa well. If any of you have suggestions for future tours please send to email@example.com. They can be a short walking tour or a day tour. They will be kept in the ever-growing list of events we want to do.
Possible Activities for as soon as permitted!
