Monthly Newsletter

January 2020

I hope you have all had a happy and healthy holiday season and are looking forward to the new year.

In 2019 the IWC-Valencia saw its membership and its activity grow.  Our current members have been busy recruiting and coming up with new ideas for our membership. A big thank you to all who have worked to improve the IWC-Valencia.

With the hard work of Sandra Molyneaux and Jane Buck we now have current job descriptions for the Executive Board and guideline for the Election Committee.  Sandra Molyneaux  spent many hours creating an extensive “Valencian Resources” list on our website that many of us are already finding useful.  Maddie Cutting has helped us put together a “Volunteer Resource” List.  Angela Beadling has agreed to coordinate our “Neighborhood Ambassador Program. Phyllis So, continues to come up with great suggestions and initiated the IWC’s WhatsApp group.  Elaine Weckerth’s suggestions  and efforts resulted in the highly successful “Holiday Treats Exchange” and “Holiday Sing Along.”

We all agree that these should be annual events.  Brenda Stein co-ordinated some very informative and enjoyable monthly cultural experiences including a excursion to the Real Monasterio de Santa Maria de Valldigna and a tour of the Casal Faller Plaza Pilar.

Not only did Missy Anobile arrange a terrific Ceramic Tour to Manises in May, she now manages the IWC Facebook page.

Claudie Escaith offered Bridge Classes.  Karen Magee-Koski took on the coordination of Casa Caridad  related activity.  Karen Fereday invited the women of the IWC to join the Knit and Knatter group.  Jane Buck, in addition to co-ordinating our lunches, held a very successful fund-raiser for the Ronald McDonald House and created an ever growing group of enthusiastic Mahjong players.

And, in March we started using our new website which benefited from the artistic talents of Diana Sumner.

We now have 180 members who self-identify as coming from 44 countries, truly from A to Z (America to Zimbabwe).     We are definitely and international group!

Please welcome those who became members in December.
